Good show from a great year. Grate sound from C Miller like usual. If they hadn't played Sunrise I'd probably give this five stars.

Subject: Smokin' A&A! Even Donna...
First off, thanks Charlie for another lovingly-restored BettyBoard.

There are a few rough patches -- most notably when Jerry couldn't quite find the phrasing in Stella -- but the Around & Around is one of the hottest I can recall having heard from any era whatsoever. Even Donna is uncharacteristically hitting her marks. She's downright unobtrusive, which is about the highest praise I ever give her. And the AUD patch at the end of the song adds a lot -- the one thing that can be missing from a 'board is hearing the audience go as nuts as you know they must have at the end of something especially kickin' So...woo hoo!

One more thing: The mix on these old BB-sourced tapes should remind all of the Bobby-bashers out there just how critical he always was to the Dead sound. In this show -- as in so many others -- he's really the core of the song. the Casey Jones here highlights this beautifully -- Bobby makes the song. Check out his feedback/sustain at the end of Jerry's first solo (starting at about 3:03). It's F-ING BRILLIANT!!
